In the wake of Melissa and other viruses, ISPs need services that protect customers As a result of the partnership between Content Technologies and Command Software Systems, ISPs can protect customers from viruses at the ISPs gateway, meaning companies dont have to wait until a virus is on employees desktops to stop it. The alliance also gives ISPs the ability to process and manage higher volumes of e-mail and quarantine e-mail threats in a central location. These functions are pre-integrated for ISPs and can be seamlessly rolled out to customers. One of the first ISPs to implement the new solution is CyPost Corporation, an ISP serving Portland, Seattle and Canada. "With todays growing concern about the ease of viruses being spread through e-mail, we felt it was our responsibility to offer our subscribers a stronger line of defense," said Carl Whitehead, director of strategic growth, CyPost Corporation. "Weve used Commands anti-virus software before and are very pleased with the results." CyPost plans to roll out the new e-mail virus protection service to its customer base in September for a nominal fee. "Internet access is costly to manage," said Peter Kershaw, president of Content Technologies. "When the Melissa virus hit, you probably read about the e-mail downtime experienced by companies such as Boeing and Microsoft, large companies that host their own e-mail. Imagine all of the damage done to companies that rely on ISPs for e-mail hosting. Companies shouldnt have to wait until a virus has penetrated their network to try to stop it. Our alliance with Command gives ISPs a way to protect their customers at the gateway, a powerful service that will save their customers a lot of money." "Increasingly, viruses are cleverly packaged to avoid detection," said Dyan Dyer, CEO of Command Software Systems. "Partnering with Content Technologies, we can give ISPs anti-virus technology that finds and stops the most elusive viruses. Its not enough anymore for ISPs to provide e-mail access, they must offer value-added services and become ASPs to remain competitive. Our alliance with Content Technologies helps them do that." Command Software Systems and Content Technologies have plans for future integrated offerings that would scan messages to reduce legal liability, stop confidentiality breeches and quarantine spam. Forthcoming products will continue to deliver value-added services to ISPs. Availability Available in North America, E-mail Command will be offered by both Command Software System, and select resellers beginning immediately.
