Description:

P98/Corner.A disables the macro warning feature in Word 97, Word/Excel 2000, and Project98. It also disables Tools/Macro in Word and infects any open Project98 files. While it infects normal.dot in Word, it does not infect the global template in Microsoft Project. Instead, it infects only those projects which are currently open. Opening an infected Project file will (re)infect the normal.dot in Word. Because of the risk of cross-infection, it is important that both Word and Project files be checked and cleaned simultaneously.

Detection: Detection requires adding the extension .MPP to the default list of extensions to scan. Deffiles dated 10/28 provide specific detection and disinfection within Word for this virus when run with Command AntiVirus 4.57 and higher. Infections in Microsoft Project will be detected with deffiles dated 10/28 and Command AntiVirus 4.57 and higher.
